A new way to revise for PE and Sport exams in 2025

Written by James Simms | Apr 23, 2025 4:00:00 PM

Dear PE colleagues,

As most of you know, my team and I have been providing revision experiences for PE and Sport courses for well over a decade. During that time, we have tried many different models and always left the experience with an annual sense of “it could be better… it could be better…” Hopefully, this is a healthy sentiment and one that suggests reflection and candidness on our part. But, today, on 23rd April 2025, as I write this sentence, I have an intriguing sense that we might have got the model really, really close to excellent for this year’s cohort. You see, we are just under a week away from the very first revision session of the series, which takes place on Tuesday 29th April 2025.

This year, our revision sessions are more than teaching experiences. They are bespoke exam-skills sessions that come with associated student and, separately, teacher notes that are focused on exactly 10 hot topics for each session. It looks a bit like this:

The show

What is the revision show? Put bluntly, the revision show is an intensive 90-minute live stream (watchable as a recording immediately after the show ends) that focuses on 10 hot topics for each PE/Sport exam this summer. As you will read in a few moments, the revision show is associated with very clear student notes for each individual learner to complete during the show, whether they take it live or, later, on demand.

But most importantly, the revision show is SKILL-focussed and EXAM-focussed. It is not teaching-focussed. I mean that most of the show is looking at example exam questions, styles, commands, answers, marking techniques and, specifically, how to go about picking up extra marks. For this reason, I can confidently say this to you:

It is my belief that every student who engages actively with our revision session will add numerous additional raw marks to their performance.

I wanted to write that differently and claim that every student who engages actively would achieve a better component grade, but my colleagues, rightly, told me this is something I can’t promise. So I have sulkily written it like you see above.

Here’s a taster:

Notice that we are discussing techniques, answer structures and how to pick up marks at every turn. Notice, too, just how many model answers are included in the revision sessions for students.

The student notes packs

During the shows, students are strongly advised to complete the associated notes packs. They look a bit like this series of examples from WJEC GCSE PE:

Please note the details of these pages. Students are required to answer, complete, think, analyse and, specifically this:

Learn how to write exam answers better!

This is the key to our revision and why we think you should tune in.

The teacher notes packs

Now compare the equivalent teacher notes for WJEC GCSE PE:

Notice how answers are completed and guidance is given to the teacher. Now the student doesn't just have the revision show to guide them. They also have their classroom teacher with the “perfect” set of resources to help them maximise the experience.

The National Mock Exam and mark schemes

You will have noticed that all of the revision shows have an associated National Mock Exam and mark scheme. These are for students to work with in the weeks and days leading up to their exams. The exam papers, written by my team and I, are specifically designed to challenge the skills that are being presented in the revision shows and, more, that are specifically required in that specific exam.

You may also notice that the revision notes and sessions feature lots of model answers, including (where relevant) extended writing examples. This is critical to student preparation and we urge you to use these resources widely.

Who can access the revision shows and resources?

These experiences are for customers of TheEverLearner.com only. Only our customers can access the shows and associated notes packs. We hope that, if you are not yet a customer, this will help you make a choice to join us. You will never regret it.

And finally…

We also want to honour our non-customers with revision opportunities too. Therefore, we will be releasing spotlight sessions and spotlight notes free on YouTube in the days running up to the exams. These are abbreviated versions of the full sessions and notes and everyone can access them. However, only our customers can access our full revision and, once again, I urge you to consider joining us if you have not done so already.

Thanks for reading.

James
